Sandy Meja

Administrative Assistant

Greetings from Gardena! I am honored to be part of a collaborative team that is driven by the same passion and care for those in need. I’m excited to contribute to Self Determined Futures, working alongside Ebony Montgomery. The innovation she has brought to the company is not only beneficial to the workers but to the community that surrounds it. Her vision for a brighter, more equitable future resonates with my own values.

From a young age, I’ve recognized community involvement as a crucial factor for succeeding in life. I initially started my community service at Richstone Family Center, which is known for its dedication to helping students reach their full potential.

Driven by my passion for education and community, I actively contributed to my community during high school as a leader in the M.E.Ch.A Club. This experience fueled my decision to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies at Dominguez Hills, where I was fortunate to be accepted as a resident teacher for LAUSD. During my time with LAUSD, assisting the lead teacher, I gained valuable classroom management experience and a deeper understanding of the responsibilities involved. This experience has reinforced my dedication to supporting students and those in my community.

As someone with diverse passions and a constant drive for enrichment, my career has centered on administrative work. I focus on maintaining and organizing businesses to facilitate their growth. At Self Determined Futures, each day reinforces the importance of actively engaging with our community members. To build a better society for everyone, we need to listen to their needs, cultivate strong relationships, and work together on initiatives that tackle local challenges. This approach encourages a sense of belonging and promotes inclusivity, demonstrating our leadership and accountability in achieving community goals. I’m happy you’re here!
