Ryan Maloney
CCP Lead
Hi there! My name is Ryan Maloney, and I’m very proud to be the Coordinated Career Pathways Lead, helping individuals and their families plan for future career readiness, which can take shape in many forms – such as, among other options, assisting them with enrolling in post-secondary education or vocational training, aiding them in pursuing self-employment or securing a paid internship, as well as working with them to achieve competitive integrated employment. My first step with clients is to help them develop a unique Person-Centered Career Plan, and I use motivational interviewing techniques and a human-centered design process to help identify the individual’s career goals and interests, strengths, challenges and barriers, regional center and generic services/supports, action steps, milestones and timelines, as well as ways to monitor progress.
Before coming to SDF, I held numerous mentoring and coaching roles, including serving as an advisor at San Diego Job Corps, where I helped counsel at-promise individuals between the ages of 16 and 24 with their academic and career goals, and I also served as the head golf coach at Golf Galaxy, San Diego. Prior to that, I was the class president of my graduating class at Valley Forge Military College, and then later obtained an A.A. in Psychology with the highest honors from Southwestern College. Most recently, I graduated from San Diego State University, magna cum laude, with an interdisciplinary B.A. in Psychology, Sociology & Counseling.
As someone who has held various jobs and transferred multiple times in college, I know firsthand just how frustrating, confusing and demanding the career planning process can be. But many people have done it, and so can you. And, along the way, my team and I will be right by your side to help you navigate your own career pathway!
